The Acidity of the Body: A Primary Cause of Cancer?
Acidity of the body is a term used to describe the pH value in the body which is directly affected by the food we consume and our lifestyle. The acidity level can be measured in every liquid. The acidity level of the body has a direct impact on our health and it usually changes throughout the day. It is very important to avoid high acidity levels because this condition disrupts the body’s efforts to absorb minerals, vitamins and other nutrients, reduces the production of energy and interrupts the renewal of cells, lowers the ability to cleanse the body and many other health issues. As a matter of fact, the 1931 Nobel Prize winner Otto Warburg has actually received the award thanks to his finding that determined the direct link between acidity of the body and cancer. To be more precise, Dr. Warburg said that cancer occurs as a consequence of anti-physiological lifestyle.
Anti-physiological eating (highly acidic foods) and lack of exercise leads to acidic environment inside the body and lack of proper oxygen supply. In case you have high acidity, you will lack oxygen in the body and if you lack oxygen you’ll have high acidity in the body – this is a chain reaction. According to Dr. Warburg, if you reduce the supply of oxygen to a healthy cell for about 35%, this cell will turn into cancerous cell in less than 48 hours.
Every healthy cell needs oxygen to function properly, however cancerous cells can live without oxygen. As a matter of fact, every carcinogenic form comes with two characteristics – high acidity and lack of oxygen (hypoxia). He determined that cancerous cells are anaerobic and that they can’t survive when there are high concentrations of oxygen present. In other words, cancerous cells can live and spread only with the help of glucose in an environment deprived from oxygen.
This means that cancer is actually a self-defense mechanism that our cells use when they are faced with acidic environment and low amount of oxygen. On the other hand, healthy cells live in alkaline environment packed with oxygen which provides proper functioning.
The acidity of the body is directly related to the food we consume. Once the digestion is finished, food, based on its nutritional value creates terms for alkaline or acidic pH value. Our blood is constantly trying to manage its acidity in order to avoid high acidity. However, if our diet is packed with foods that make blood acidic the blood can’t regulate the acidity in a proper way.
In order to avoid situations like this, we should avoid certain foods and substances or at least reduce their intake. Some of these foods include – refined sugar, meat, processed salt, bread, alcohol, caffeine and tobacco. Food that improves alkalinity in the body includes honey, fruit, vegetables, nuts and whole grains.
Finally, it is good to mention that chemotherapy doesn’t regulate the pH value in our body, as a matter of fact, it worsens the acidity of the body which is probably why the success rates in this treatment are so low.
